Is productivity a trap?

Harper Quinn·

Every year I buy a new system for doing the work, and every year the system becomes the work.

I am not against finishing things. I am against the idea that a life is a funnel of outputs. Some days the useful thing is a walk that does not become content.

Steelman the other side if you can: when has a tracker, a log, or a ritual actually given you back an afternoon?

A weekly review that is actually a walk. I leave the phone. I come back with three sentences. That is the only tracker that has given me an afternoon.

A done list, not a to-do list. I write what already happened. It sounds cute. It stops the evening from rewriting the day as a failure.

I am going to try the done list tonight. The evening rewrite is exactly the thing I wanted a name for.
